When you've invested your heart and soul into a narrative and it lets you down, it really can hurt. I think you're far from the only one who's experienced something like this, but it's not often talked about even within fandom. It seems often people are comfortable expressing anger or derision about a narrative they used to love, but more rarely pain and sadness.
