Yeah I think there was a lot of comphet in the stuff I read when I was younger, and I did a lot of blithely ignoring it tbh. I think these days there's more room for authors to do other kinds of things in their kids books, which I'm glad of for the kids growing up now to have a greater variety of options to read about!
