Pileated woodpeckers are the absolute best. And I like how red-winged blackbirds perch on fenceposts and sing as people bike by. So glad to hear your joy in your new hobby!

I am a very amateur very casual birder and I'm slowly learning to recognize some of them by sound, which is fun, since I'm no good at picking them out visually either.
