it's a manga! though maybe it was adapted from a light novel? it does say "original story by" which kind of implies adaptation and I made perhaps erroneous assumptions of what it was adapted from, due to not being very familiar with the world of the Japanese publishing industry? I did try to find what this bean counter manga was adapted from but my English-only internet searching did not get me very far into anything useful
