yeahhhh the broken earth trilogy has looked, to me, like the kind of emotional intensity that I am not in the right space for in recent years, even though I know a lot of people have said good things about those books. but also I find jemisin pretty hit or miss for me, in terms of whether I click with her writing -- I liked the first two books in the hundred thousand kingdoms, but haven't enjoyed anything else from her iirc.

also, from what I have seen it seems to at least mostly focus on one woman and her daughter? so not quite the kind of narrative I'm thinking about!
