youtube and sewing

Occasionally I run across a youtuber who I find particularly compelling and develop the need to watch their entire archive. Currently I'm making my way through everything Bernadette Banner has ever posted. She's a "costuber", meaning she creates videos about the costuming/cosplay she creates. More specifically, she focuses on creating historically-accurate clothes, made with period-correct techniques, to the best of a historian's ability to discern what accurate/correct is.

But she also focuses on, like, encouraging people to figure out what kinds of crafty things make them excited, and to then actually spend time on those things.

And she's very friendly and earnest and enthusiastic and I love the things she makes -- and long story short, today I worked on a sewing project for the first time in FAR too long.

Nothing historical, or even history-inspired. I was just adding a pocket to a skirt that needed it. But I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for Bernadette Banner's encouragement. And it feels great to have gotten it done!

Getting that push to get something done is so great!

I just checked out her Halloween review. It was a lot of fun.
