the untamed pt 2

Early in my watch-through of The Untamed, if you asked me who my favourite character was, I would probably have said Lan Xichen. And I do love him a lot! But it turns out that that was just me falling back into my old habits of feeling like I can't just like the same thing everyone else likes, that's too normal of me. Because uh. Turns out Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are actually incredible?? I love them both a perhaps unreasonable amount! They are my favourites!

(Other second-favourite characters to go along with lxc, ones who I couldn't name early on because they don't show up as much until later in the show: all four of the main juniors, do not make me choose between them, they are all the BEST; Wen Ning; Mianmian.)

(...did I remember to tell my blog when I finished watching The Untamed, or did that just stay on twitter? I finished watching The Untamed! Months ago! It was amazing!!!!)

I had a really similar reaction to The Untamed. Like "What is this strange feeling of caring about the main canon ship?" They have ruined me for other romances! (Not really, but I feel that way about them right now.) And the juniors absolutely are the best. And I love Wen Ning and Wen Qing. And Mianmian. (Honestly I get to going on this show and I just love everyone in this bar.) NHS is my other second fave.

I hear you, lwj and wwx are just like, THE MOST DELIGHTFUL and they love each other so much!!! And I love everyone in this bar too, there are SO many great characters! this show is such a gift. How is everything so amazing.

Honestly it's easier for me to name characters I don't love because I do love so many! And the characters I don't love are the characters I'm not supposed to love because they're Bad Guys. And even with the Bad Guys, I still think that, like, JGY and (less extremely) Madam Yu are just fascinating characters and I love watching them.

YEAH totally, I think jgy is fascinating even though I don't like him. Everyone's interesting!

The one character I have personal issues with is Xue Yang, because the degree to which he takes advantage of another person's trust is just so deeply uncomfortable to me that I can't handle it

That is totally understandable. Poor XXC. So tragic.

I don't know, but I wish they would bottle it so other shows can figure it out. I haven't loved something this much in years!

ME TOO, I often struggle to actually watch tv shows and I was astonished to find myself just... watching 50 straight episodes because I wanted to! I have never watched so much of one tv show before in my life!

Same! I never watch TV and I just gobbled this up. Admittedly the short episodes helped, but still. It is a really strange phenomenon.

You have such good taste in characters! (THE JUNIORS! MIANMIAN!)

But yes, there is a reason that the fandom is so dominated by Wangxian and it's because both WWX and LWJ...really are that amazing. I love them both as much as any characters I've ever loved.
