yuletide 2022 approaches!

Somehow it's yuletide season already, and I want to participate again for the first time in many years!

So far the fandoms I'm considering requesting are:

- a harrowing book from the pov of a violently misogynist man

- a heartwarming but out-of-print children's book about friendship

- a book that has so many of its author's prejudices on display that I can't actually recommend anyone else read it

so if I go ahead with these I WILL be the kind of difficult recipient where if you get matched to me on one fandom and decide you can't write that one, it will not be easy to pick up one of my other fandoms, oops

But I'm not committed to this roster, this is just my first round of brainstorming! Is there anything else I'm forgetting that I want fic for that I should consider requesting??? I have until the mid-September nomination deadline to decide!

Haha, but honestly this is the point of Yuletide imo! The niche-ier the better!

It's true! I generally try to request fandoms for which there is no extant fic to be found on the internet; the smallest fandoms possible!!! I do think it's a little mean though to request a book that's been out of print for decades, and I'd like to figure out something else to replace that request with if possible, because I did request it for multiple previous yuletides and it got zero offers so I don't think the yuletide audience is familiar with it.....

I have requested a book that was out of print for decades and after years finally got a fic for it! (In the Just Married exchange, but still!) So I think it's totally fine to request such a niche book, so long as you also request a few others that are easier to access. You never know--someone out there may have glomped on to the particular book as well!
