Why is it so hard to come up with titles for posts?

I noticed something amusing during yesterday's ill-advised rewatch of Thor.* You know the bit where Loki says, "I am the monster that parents tell their children about at night"? If divorced from Loki's tragic tone of voice, it's awfully reminiscent of Methos' "I was the nightmare that kept them awake at night." I totally cracked up, upon noticing this!

Also, while I'm talking about yesterday's ill-advised rewatch of Thor, I kind of failed at paying attention to the things I meant to be paying attention to. During the Darcy scenes I watched and listened to Darcy to try to get a better handle on her character, yes. But during the Loki scenes I was mostly just admiring Loki. USEFUL, self. Real useful at getting a better grasp of Loki's speech patterns.


*I intended to clean my bedroom. My floor is currently a study in messiness. As is my desk. As is my everything. The hazards of living in a tiny room!

In other news of dubious value, I have apparently written a draft of a Thor/Back to the Future ficlet because um... apparently my response to any awesome scientist in fiction or reality is to introduce them to Doc Brown? Dunno.

I think the answer to this news is that your response is an EXCELLENT response. I mean, I've never seen Back to the Future, but that won't stop me from enjoying the hell out of the fic!

New fic idea! West Wing/Thor crossover where Mike Casper fakes his death at Nick Fury's instigation to become Agent Coulson.

I'm a bad person. Luckily the odds are good I won't actually write this.

Hee, I know basically nothing about West Wing so your words mean nothing to me, but I can never argue with unusual crossovers!

Clark Gregg guests a few times on The West Wing as a a senior FBI agent, Mike Casper. He's AiC in a case involving bombings of Alabama churches, he briefs the President when Zoe gets kidnapped, I'm pretty sure there's another time. It's a small part, but The West Wing is so well written and so good at getting great actors to give life to small parts.

And obviously Clark Gregg is Coulson, too, and their personalities are similar. Self-effacing, dogged, effective leaders. Casper's best line is after his team catches the suspects in the bombing case and Josh invites him to meet the President to get congratulations. He says, "We don't take curtain calls." And it could so be a Coulson line, except that Coulson would have this look on his face of quiet gloating that Casper wouldn't, but I'm sure we can ascribe that to Nick Fury's influence.
