This year I made it to 95 books read. So close to 100 and yet so far! Of these, 34 were rereads.

Genre breakdown:
53 sff
37 ya/children's
18 historical fiction
14 old books
12 nonfiction
11 romance
5 memoir
3 graphic novel
(as always, take genre numbers with a grain of salt. Genres do not have clear-cut divisions by any means!)

68.5 Female authors
26.5 Male authors
0 Nonbinary authors

16 Books with an author I know is a person of colour

My favourite reread of the year is Vigilant by James Alan Gardner, I just love that book endlessly. My favourite new book of the year is harder to narrow down. Fave nonfiction would be Debt: The First Five Thousand Years, which is a book I keep finding myself recommending to people but so far have yet to have anyone take me up on reading it, not that I blame them as it is an extremely lengthy economics book, but it's super good. Fave fiction is a tie between Thick as Thieves and the three Erin Bow books I read this year. And yes I know that this means this paragraph adds up to six favourite books.......

This Wicked Gift wins the prize of least favourite book of the year, as the only one-star review I gave. An uncomfortably-rapey romance with characters I didn't like. Yeah, no. (And disappointing too, given how much I unreservedly love Courtney Milan's later works!)
