Yeah, remember when I did recs? ME NEITHER.

ANYWAYS. Here are three fics about timeloops that do something out of the ordinary with them and do so really well!

This Is the Worst Trip (2455 words) by Dira Sudis
Fandom: Generation Kill
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Brad Colbert/Ray Person, Ray Person/Other
Characters: Ray Person, Brad Colbert
Additional Tags: Groundhog Day, Community: fan_flashworks, Temporary Character Death
Summary:
"Well," Brad says, trying to think logically about an impossible affliction based on a movie about Bill Murray and a rodent. "What have you tried so far?"

This is one where the entire events of the fic are just one conversation on one day of the timeloop, and nothing actually gets solved. And wow, it inspires a million feels.

Col James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Clint being incompetent with girls, Natasha being a Big Damn Hero, angry mobs, evil corporations, crazy physics shenanigans, and Bill Murray.

Holy crap, this fic. I was blown away by it when I read it upon it first being posted, and alas it is too long for me to reread it right now just for the sake of writing this rec properly. But wow. So there's a timeloop, but instead of the fix being, like, figuring something out about your life or whatever, they have to build technology to fix it. But how do you do that when you only ever have one day to do the entire process? DUDE. (also feels, of course. But also lots of DUDE over the story itself!)

Run, Bakri Says, by Ferrett Steinmetz
Pro origfic, around 4k words

Here a person is deliberately creating the timeloop and letting it keep on reiterating until the desired outcome is achieved. And it is, um, not a cheery story. Content notes include lots of death and lots of unhealthy attitudes towards dying and killing. But it is really powerful and definitely worth reading.

ALDKLFHSDFLKJ so Rock Happy by ArwenLune! I have a lot of thoughts/feels! I KNOW I USUALLY RESERVE THIS SORT OF POST FOR PUBLISHED BOOKS BUT wowwwww a couple sentences in my pinboard bookmark just WON'T CUT IT FOR THIS FIC.

So. Rock Happy is a crossover fic between Generation Kill (strictly the tv show, fictional version of these characters) and Stargate: Atlantis, which the author summarizes thusly:
"You want to recruit me for what? You want me to go where?"

Sgt. Brad Colbert has been on a lot of strange missions, but this promises to be his most out there yet: Atlantis.

This is not a story about falling in love. This is a story about falling in team.

And spoiler time! )

More tv feelings for you! I KNOW RIGHT? Me, watching enough tv that I have MULTIPLE POSTS to make about it! This time it's all [personal profile] surexit's fault.

But Generation Kill is only 7 episodes long! I MIGHT WELL GET THROUGH THE WHOLE THING! I can but hope. I'm already three eps in, which is almost halfway!

Anyways, THOUGHTS. ALSO FEELINGS. Cut for length and mild spoilers. )
